Improvisation in Farhadi work: ifilm reports

In an ifilm exclusive report, actor Amir-Hossein Seddiq shares strange memory on his collaboration with Oscar-winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi.

'Hodhod Bookstore' star told ifilm about how he used improvisation in his performance for one of Asghar Farhadi’s earliest works – a TV series titled 'Story of a City'.

In "one of the most attractive sequences” in Farhadi’s series “that people still remember … Mohsen’s character (played by me) drops his cell-phone in the toilet,” he said, adding that thanks to Farhadi’s welcoming attitude the cast was able to improvise the largest portion of the sequence.       

Double Oscar-winner director hailing from Iran made the TV series back in 1999 before shooting to global prominence with 'A Separation' and 'The Salesman'.

If you are interested to know more about the 1999 series, a plot summary for the production reads, "A group of young people with different tastes gets together for a TV production themed around social issues happening in Iranian capital city of Tehran. Reporting such issues in the TV program links the group to a story.”
